What is storage device?
Storage device is any computing hardware that is used for storing and extracting data files in programs.Â
Data and programs are very essential for the computer user. It is essential to store the computers data for the future use. Computer system is useless if we will be unable to store the data and programmes. to stored the data and programs we most have a storage device. Information both temporary and permanently. Storage device can be internal and external to a computer or any other computing device. Storage device is also know as a storage medium for storage media.
Types of storage device:-
Primary storage deviceÂ
The primary memory is internal storage memory or device. The primary memory is called the main memory of the computer system. Primary memory can store non volatile data in computer and other computing device. It is used to store data and application temporary or software triggered of the of time while the computer is running.
There are mainly two types of primary memory storage:-
- Random Access memory (RAM)
- Read only memory (ROM)
Random Access memory (RAM)
RAM is of popular volatile memory it is also called a temporary memory.
Read only memory (ROM)
ROM is a popular non-volatile memory. It is also known as permanent memory.
Secondary storage device
Secondary storage device have a large storage capacity and store data permanently permanently. They can be both internal and external to the computer and they include the hard disk a compact disc drive and USB storage device.

Memory card
Memory card is also know as a flash memory card. it is a type of storage media that is often used to store photos videos or other data is electronic device.
Floppy disk
A floppy disc is also called A floppy or floppy diskette. It is a type of storage media capable for storing electronic data like a computer file. The profit is it was first created in 1967 by IBM as a alternative to buy hard disk.
Pen drive
Open drive is also called a USB flash drive Tata stick memory unit thumb drive and some drive. It is one of the portable storage device. Flash drive for an easy way to store and transfer information. They are available in sizes ranging from 2 GB to 1 TB in the market these days. Flash drives usually have plastic or aluminium casings surrounding the memory chip in a USB connector for use with most modern computers.
